RGM Goal:

The goal is to provide low cost, easily accessible and effective health services by protection and promotion of Traditional Medicine System at the same time enabling biodiversity conservation by promoting Traditional Knowledge.

RGM Objectives:

• To develop and revitalize community based health care system.
• To promote sustainable conservation and identification of medicinal plants and provide scientific base for validation of traditional health care practices.
• To re-organize the traditional knowledge and methods and re-establish them at community level
• To cater maximum health needs at community level on the basis of community initiative and traditional methods.

Achievements of RGM:

The implementation and management of the various activities of RGM is done by its multi faculty team members

. The Gunis make efforts to provide traditional health services and to empower the Traditional System of Medicine at local level.

RGM takes the services of expert and experienced people who, on one hand are constantly working to enhance knowledge and capacity of Gunis, while on the other hand they are involved in advocacy and networking on issues related with Traditional System of Medicine.  The enthusiasm of its members and their voluntary spirit has survived and progressed through different phases of development, earning credibility with financing and governmental agencies, gained confidence and experience and won societal recognition.

Mission is supported by an advisory team of highly qualified experts in the fields of health, development, social and legal aspects. This team provides guidance to make the Mission’s management effective and also supports us to carry forward various TSM issues to state as well as national level.

Strategy:

Our various efforts and energies are diverted for traditional health practices and traditional health practitioners. In this regard, we are following strategy both for the practice and practitioners.
 

Since the inception of RGM, we envisaged to support and strengthen the traditional health practices and practitioners at various levels, right from the village to national level. In this regard, the details are given below:

Village level

• Search and identification of Gunis
• Knowledge and capacity building of Gunis
• Identification and conservation of medicinal plants

Block level

• Establishing coordination of TSM with Government and NGOs and providing health services in rural areas
• Enabling income generation for poor and deprived sections of the society by protection, conservation and production of rare species of medicinal plants. This is done through coordination with Government and NGOs. 

State level:

• Advocacy and networking with people’s representatives and policy practitioners for promotion of Traditional Medicine System
• Organizing state level workshops for Gunis
• Resource mobilization for effective and structured functioning of Mission .

National level :

• Linking Traditional Medicine System with AYUSH and other concerned departments for due recognition
• Policy intervention for securing continuity of this system.
• Linking the Mission with other national level organizations to gain stability for the Mission
